What is the most important measure?

Martin Luther King Jr. brought much to our culture and continues to inspire new generations. In 2017, a time of change for each of us in our own ways, he provides some wisdom:

The ultimate measure of a man is not where he stands in moments of comfort and convenience, but where he stands at times of challenge and controversy.

For many of us that means more time being grateful for the world around us. Through surfing, sailing, conserving nature, or whatever you choose. In the Caribbean it is seeing amazing potential for marine renewable energy. The power that these island nations might obtain from renewable energy is inspiring. Sobering is the effects that climate change has wrought on Greenland. The article below is enough to chill (pun intended) most of us. But, when we see the inspiration of dogs and sharks playing together in the waves, it certainly brings hope and a smile!

Other big news is that we are working on our WaveClock Kickstarter campaign! We are designing and finishing new designs with Wetfeet Photography and Ventana Surfboards and Supplies. Stay tuned and follow us on Twitter and Facebook for the latest info. We'll let you know here first!

Happy and Safe 2017 to Everyone!

Renewable energy provides real solutions for islands

The Caribbean makes us think of sun, waves, and breezes. Luckily for these island nations, that also equals energy. The islands are a literal hotbed of largely untapped renewable energy resources. Finding responsible ways to develop these could provide an economic boom in the islands. A great article here.

When it comes to climate change science, seeing is believing

Oceanographer Andreas Muenchow confronted his doubts as to whether climate change was causing massive changes to our planet by visiting Greenland to see for himself. A great article here describes his journey from a skeptic to a believer when he cataloged the real changes happening to our planet.
What happens when dogs and sharks get along?

When a shark made a cameo appearance at a Huntington Beach contest last week, it shut down. Granted a 9 to 10 ft shark would keep anyone out of the water, Sugar the surfing dog had no problems.  Maybe its a sign that we can all just get along some day.  Read about it here.
